Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) hands over the first batch of four Cheetal helicopters to the Indian Air Force (IAF) at Barrackpore in West Bengal, Kolkata on Saturday, 25 July 2009. Cheetal is the first batch of re-engined version of ‘Cheetah’ helicopters. IAF had placed an order for 10 Cheetals, of which the first batch of four has been delivered; the remaining six are expected to be handed over by September. The Cheetal helicopters are robust with enhanced fuel-efficient engine, which boost its endurance and payload.
