Police beating Muharam mourners in Srinagar’s Lal Chowk on Wednesday preventing them from carrying out a religious procession. Authorities imposed curfew restrictions in major parts of the city to ensure no processions are taken out. Shia Muslims across the world are observing 10-days in memory of grandsons of the prophet who were martyred in the Karbala battle in Arabia over 1400 years back.
