Top ministers of Indias United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government on 01 June 2011 failed to persuade popular yoga guru Baba Ramdev to call off a planned fast against corruption. Ramdev, who runs a multimillion-dollar yoga and health products empire from his hermitage in the northern hill town of Hardwar, said he would go on a fast unto death beginning 04 June 2011 until the government takes measures to repatriate funds held illegally in foreign bank accounts.
