UN special envoy to Myanmar Ibrahim Gambari gestures during a press conference in New Delhi on Tuesday, 23 October 2007. The United Nations envoy on Myanmar said he was "encouraged" by Indian pledges to support efforts to resolve the crisis in its military-ruled neighbor. The comments came after the diplomat, Ibrahim Gambari, met with Indian leaders who have come in for heavy criticism over their muted reaction to the junta"s violent crackdown on anti-government protests led by Buddhist monks.
