Foreigners watch the 57th edition of the Nehru Trophy Boat Race in Alleppy at Alappuzha District in Kerala on Saturday, 08 August 2009. The boat races which feature both men"s and women"s competitions take their name from India’s first Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru, who inaugurated the trophy in 1952.The race begins with a colourful pageant of floats performing arts and decorated snake boats known as "Chundans".
