Supporters of Veteran Social Activist Anna Hazare being detained by the Delhi police outside Chhatrasal Stadium in New Delhi, on Tuesday, 16 August 2011.More than 1,000 anti-graft protesters were detained in the Indian capital on 16 August as they poured onto the streets minutes after their leader was arrested, officials said. Anna Hazare, 74, was detained by police in the morning along with six associates to prevent him from defying a ban on a planned protest against corruption. Federal Home Minister P Chidambaram said up to 1,300 people had been detained at different places, most of them at the stadium.
